Now let’s talk about another interview which is the interview for those who applied for JPA-MARA Scholarships. Those who applied for this scholarships will also be shortlisted to go through an interview. Actually JPA-MARA has two; COT ( Cambridge Online Test) and SAC ( Student Assesment Centre). COT is for those who applied for overseas while the SAC is for those who applied for local. I applied for local so I am gonna share with you about SAC.
There will be some documents that you need to prepare and bring them with you on the interview day. So, make sure you prepare and bring all the required documents completely. Because the organisers, JPA-MARA people, might be strict about that.
Okay so here it goes, when you arrive there, like always, you will register. According to your own group that you will be given, and you will get a tag that has a number on it. The number represents you. They don’t call your name, they call you by you number. Like, “okay I want to ask number 37.” So, make sure to look and remember your number carefully.
SAC has two session. One session is in English and one session is in Bahasa Melayu. In the English session, you will sit in a row, like in a group there will be not more than ten people. So you guys will sit in a row, and there will a long table in front of you guys. And the panels, the two interviewers, will sit in front of you guys. These two interviewers will ask questions, give statements and ask for your opinions. It is up to them who they want to ask the questions but usually they will get everyone give their answers. So yeah, don’t rush, just relax and answer it honestly. From my observations, their focus is on current issues. Like during my time, the first question is about heat stroke. Then the 3R campaign, global warming and stuffs like that. So, as a tip, prepare yourself with currents issues. And we also being asked questions like, ‘ what do you yourself in 15 years?’ , ‘why do you want to take this course?’ , ‘why do you think you deserve this scholarship?’. That’s it.
Next, the BM session. BM session is a bit different. Compared to the English session where we were asked questions, in BM session, we need to do a presentation. In a group. They gave us an article. They told us what we have to present, we wrote the notes on a kertas mahjung, and then we present it in front of two panels. Presentation is based on the article but still you have to think. You will be asked to present things that regarding the article but they are not in the article.
Okay, based on my experience. As for me, my group got the article about Obesities. The obesities that is increasing rapidly among the teenagers. On the same paper, they will give questions for us to present the answers. Example, how do we control the problem, how will it affect the country, the economy and the society. During the presentation, the panels will ask questions to us about what we presented to them. Sometimes they will ask questions like they want to provoke your statements. So you have to be ready with any logic and possible answers. Don’t be nervous and make sure you have quite great knowledge lah. Sometimes, they just want to provoke us, so please stay calm so that you can think properly. During the presentations, in my point of view, it is better to distribute what to present in front of the panels equally to all the members in the participant. Be generous. Do not present everything on your own. Let everyone express their answers. You do your part, they do their part. It is fun! The presentation is fun! So enjoy it.
