For those who applied and planning to enroll into UTP, they will be shortlisted to go through this oneday programme called Educamp UTP. It contains of two things which are tests and interview session. The tests are divided into two; Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) and Cambridge Personal Styles Questionnaire ® (CPSQ). After you finish both of the tests, you will be directed to go for an interview session.
This is my experience for Educamp UTP 2015. Mine was in the evening session, which was from 2.00 pm until 5.00 pm. First, when we arrived there, we queued up and registered and you will be divided into groups. During my session, the groups are from A until H. So it is better to register early actually so that you can finish it early.
Done registration, the facilitator brought us into the Chancellor Hall for a briefing and a bit talk about UTP and stuffs, so we entered the hall and took our seats. After the briefing and talk finished, the facilitators will bring you to respective computer lab. There, you will seat for the two tests, which are Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) and Cambridge Personal Styles Questionnaire ® (CPSQ).
For Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA), the questions are quite hard but its okay, you have enough time to think. It consists of thinking skills and problem solving. You can use scientific calculator to answer them. One of the questions;
A piece of paper is 210 mm wide and 295mm long. The margin above is 20mm and the margin below must be at least 1.5 times the margin above.The right and left margin must be 20mm . The height of the letters is 10mm. How many lines can you write in that page?
As for the Cambridge Personal Styles Questionnaire (CPSQ), it is actually a personality test in full English. But don’t worry, if there are some difficult words that you don’t really understand the meaning, if you hover the mouse over the words, it will show you the similar meaning of the words but in simpler way so that you can understand. The questions is like;
I like to challenge myself by setting difficult goals to achieve
Then you have to answer it agree/strongly agree/disagree. It is just a simple personality test but make sure to be honest cause they can detect it whether you are lying or not.
After you completed both of the tests, you will go for an interview sessions. You will go to another room, and there are a lot of tables in that. A lecturer will sit at each table and do the interview with you. You might be interviewd in a group of like two or three or maybe alone while the others at the table wait for their turn. Actually it is not an interview, it is actually VCA ( Verbal Communication Assesment ). This is to look how well do you communicate. It is a very quick one. Less and not more than five minutes I think. And the questions are not really hard. Mine were, ‘ What do you think of UTP and why wouldn’t you accept if we offer you other that the course that you applied for?’. Then that’s it. After that you can go home. Yay! 😀
